We are fast approaching the first heat of the 2014 UK Masonry SKills Challenge which this year sees a strong field of competitors from across the UK’s stonemasonry colleges.
The challenge is an annual competition open to teams of three, all of whom must be enrolled in a relevant stone masonry course and in one of their first 3 years of training.
Due to the competition’s ever-increasing popularity there are two heats, one held at Moulton College on the 13th of May and the other at Glasgow College on the 20th of May.
As there are now two heats for this competition the overall individual winner of each heat will receive a trophy to commemorate this. Once the two heats have been completed, the overall scores will be calculated and the winners will be announced. There will be three individual winners, first, second and third, based on marks and three team winners based on the three candidates’ collective marks. The winning college will be presented with the UK Masonry Skills Challenge Peter Ellis Shield and each team member will also receive a smaller trophy as a memento and a cheque for £50. The individual winners will also receive the following prizes:
1st Prize – £300
2nd Prize – £200
3rd Prize – £100
Stone Federation would like to thank the event sponsors for their support.
