Last week we hosted over 50 leading architects, designers, engineers and specifiers in London for ‘Natural Stone: The Original Sustainable Material’.
Hosted as a collaborative event by the official trade bodies for the stone industry in the UK and Portugal, Stone Federation and Assimagra, this event explored, through project profiles and panel discussions, how architects can use this beautiful natural material to deliver projects with a lower carbon footprint.
We heard from Squire & Partners and Eric Parry Architects about their work on the award-winning Chelsea Barracks scheme, explored how EPDs can help showcase stone’s sustainability story, and took a whistlestop tour through some of the best-known and unsung heroes of quarried materials in the UK and Portugal; a big ‘thank you’ to FMDC who delivered the UK stone showcase.
This was a great opportunity to showcase natural stone as the original sustainable material and connect with some of the UK’s leading architects, designers and specifiers.
