StoneSafe is Stone Federation’s long awaited Health and Safety Campaign and covers the four main areas of interest to the stone industry: Respirable Dust, Hand-Arm Vibration, Manual and Mechanical Handling and Noise.
The first instalment was sent to members in early August and contained mirror stickers with the hard hitting message “You are looking at a person responsible for your safety!”, a guide to Hand-Arm Vibration and a Risk Assessment: Hazardous Substances Guide. This is only the start of the campaign – members are to receive the second instalment shortly.
The HSE report will feature examples of how organisations are acting to improve health and safety following the Strategy launch in June 2009. It will be available for viewing on the HSE’s website and a number of printed copies will also be produced. HSE plans to launch the report at their Parliamentary Reception this October. It will be a good opportunity for organisations to showcase how they have responded to the challenges of the Strategy.
This recognises the emphasis that the Federation places on health and safety and illustrates the way that Stone Federation has promoted this to our members.
Further details will be circulated to members of the Federation in due course. In the meantime members are reminded that they can request further StoneSafe packs via email or they can download the guides from the members area of the website.
